Ista Culture Seminar is a gathering of professionals in the local
communities to harness the recent cultural growth found here in South
Florida. This edition of the Seminar will concentrate on the Art Basel
period combined with elements of Miami’s past, present and future and
how it connects with our community, once Art Basel has ended. Ask
questions and hear from true culture designers and pioneers, native to
South Florida. This is not an ordinary lecture format, with our open
wifi interactive environment, you’ll need to bring your laptop and
smart phones to access some parts of the presentation as well as the
some of the guest speakers. Ista Culture Seminar will be a 4 hour / 4
guest speaker format that is free of charge. 1 guest speaker every
hour, seats are limited to 40 guest per hour. To attend you must log
on to Facebook and make your selection below. Then choose and attend 1
or all the guest speakers you wish to hear. Once your attendance has
been confirmed, we will send you a digital program detailing the
course seminar.

street with us. Purvis Young Overtown Kids Club, PYAM & GPK crew
present the unveiling celebration of The Purvis Young Graffiti Hall of
Fame (The Purvis Wall) event. Live painting, pizza, drinks, music and
tour selected works of Purvis Young. Graffiti writers from the GPK
crew, along side special guests writers, Keds & Coler (DAM crew)
featured on the Purvis wall. Check out the Purvis Young Overtown Kids
Club Wall inside the gallery of children's artwork aswell. Classic
soul and beats by GPK DJs. The unveiling of the dedication plaque will
be held at noon. Also as an added bonus check out the art piece of Hec
One Love on the wall directly across the Purvis Wall. Listen to Hec,
Sharon Rolle and Eddie Maye Lovest (from PYAM) all speak at 4pm down
the street at the Ista Culture Seminar at Product/81.

コロンビア人の父親とコスタリカ人の母親を持つグラフィック・アーティスト。Beta Bodega Coalition代表。NYCクイーンズ出身、マイアミ在住。90年代後期、Beta Bodega、Rice and BeansなどのIDMレーベルを立ち上げる。2002年にPrefuse73とBotanica del Jibaroを共同設立し、続いて2005年にArepazを立ち上げ、CYNE、Epstein、Seven Star、Soarse Spoken、Deviant、JayTram、Chris Devoe、Leb Lazeなど数多くの作品をリリース。レーベルのアートワークすべてを手掛け、2006年にはアパレル専用のレーベルとしてRice and Beansを復活させている。バルセロナSonar2004、コロンビアMedelink2008への参加、日本ではStudio Voiceの表紙へのグラフィック提供や、Tokion、remix、Woofin'、Faderなど各誌のインタビュー特集、2005年ポルトガルAuditorio Serralves、2004年オランダTag Gallery、2009年、BEAMS STREET、BEAMS T香港、2005年から2010年まで東京UPLINK GalleryでArt Exhibitionを行うなど、世界各国で注目を集めている。2010年11月に、Rice and Beansの新作"Miami Beer Tour"をBEAMS Tにて全国リリース。

2007年8月、満を持してファーストアルバム「Social Commentary」をリリース。

Rice and Beansは、La Mano Friaによって創られるクロージング・デザイン以上のものである。また、Rice and Beans(米と豆)は、ラテンアメリカの料理であってその文化の一部である。

このコンセプトから、TBT (Tokyo Beer Tour)とMBT (Miami Beer Tour)は誕生した。グラフィックデザイン、タイポグラフィ、ストリートアート、音楽、カルチャー、旅行、そしてビールなどを含むプロジェクトである。

なぜビールなのか？

ビールは世界的な飲料で、それによって人々は、日本の居酒屋からアイルランドのパブ、コスタリカの酒場でも、皆一緒になり、互いに語り合う。

ほとんどの場合は、リラックスするために集まるのだけれども、飲みながら本音で語っている時こそ、より深い会話ができ、革命的なアイデアが生まれるのではないかと私は信じている。
